Introducing Myself: A Life Woven with Love, Pets, and Yarn
Hello, dear readers!
Today, I’d love to take a moment to introduce myself—not just by name, but by sharing the heart and soul behind these stories. My name might not be the headline, but the life I lead is a colorful tapestry of family, pets, creativity, and compassion. It’s busy, joyful, occasionally chaotic—and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
A Family at the Center of It All
At the heart of everything I do is my family. As a wife and proud mother of six adult children—plus two wonderful stepchildren—family isn’t just important to me, it’s the foundation of who I am.
Over the years, we’ve shared meals, milestones, and memories in the kind of house that’s never truly quiet and rarely ever empty. I often joke that I could write an entire advice column based solely on our family dynamics—there’s never a dull moment when you’ve got eight grown kids with big personalities and even bigger hearts.
Now that they’re all grown and blazing their own trails—from educators and entrepreneurs to creatives and caretakers—it fills me with pride to watch them live lives of purpose and passion. Whether we’re planning a backyard barbecue, attending a birthday party, or sharing popcorn over a favorite movie, the joy we find in togetherness never fades.
Grandmotherhood: Life’s Sweetest Chapter
If being a mom has brought me purpose, then being a grandmother has brought me pure magic. I’m blessed with ten grandchildren who bring color and chaos to every corner of my world. Their energy, curiosity, and boundless love remind me daily of life’s simple joys.
I’ve embraced the role of “Mema” with open arms—and usually a crochet hook in hand! Each grandchild has received their own handmade blanket, crafted with soft yarn and even softer affection. These gifts aren’t just cozy; they’re keepsakes filled with stories, memories, and the kind of love that only a grandmother can stitch into every row.
A Home Full of Heartbeats and Paw Prints
Beyond the laughter of grandchildren and the warmth of family dinners, my home is also shared with a wonderful pack of four-legged companions. We currently have three graceful Italian Greyhounds, one loyal White German Shepherd, and three sassy, mysterious cats—all of whom rule the house in their own unique ways.
Their presence fills my days with laughter, comfort, and just the right amount of mayhem. Whether it’s the dogs playfully chasing one another through the yard or the cats perched like royalty on windowsills, I’m reminded how much pets add to the richness of life.
Did you know that studies show pets can reduce stress levels by up to 30%? I can attest to that firsthand. There’s something deeply calming about the rhythmic sound of a cat’s purr or the excited wag of a tail when you walk through the door.
Giving Back: Volunteering with Heart
My love for animals doesn’t stop at home. I’ve been a dedicated volunteer at a local animal shelter, helping to care for animals in need and assisting with adoptions. I've also fostered dogs in my home, preparing them for adoption.
Seeing a dog’s eyes light up as it leaves the shelter, or my home as a foster, with a new family, or watching a timid cat finally curl into someone’s lap—it’s deeply moving. Now, I keep a Blessing Box in my front yard. It's a small pantry that says; Take what you need, leave what you can. I've had non-perishable foods, toiletries, and clothing inside the pantry. There always seems to be a need, and I am happy to provide.
Volunteering has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life, and I believe that giving time to a cause close to your heart enriches you in ways no paycheck ever could.
If you’ve ever considered volunteering, I encourage you to do it. Whether it's animals, food banks, or mentoring, connecting with your community through service is powerful and fulfilling.
My Creative World: The Art of Crochet
When I’m not wrangling grandkids or walking dogs, you can almost always find me curled up with a skein of yarn and a crochet hook in hand. Crochet is more than just a hobby for me—it’s a passion and a form of therapy. The rhythm, the creativity, the way each project takes shape—it soothes the soul.
I’ve made countless handmade gifts over the years, from cozy shawls and scarves to whimsical toys and baby blankets. Giving something made by hand, infused with love and care, always feels more meaningful than anything bought in a store.
It has also connected me to a broader crafting community. Whether it’s chatting in local crochet groups or exchanging tips and patterns online, these friendships are special. We speak a shared language of color, texture, and creativity—and that’s something truly beautiful.

Serving the Community: USPS and Spark
In addition to my roles at home, I’ve had the pleasure of working for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. Every day, I delivered nearly a hundred pieces of mail—packages, letters, cards—all of which connect people to each other and the world.
It was more than a job; it was a way to serve. I got to know the people on my route, shared smiles with strangers, and even looked out for the elderly or homebound. It taught me the value of consistency, care, and simple acts of kindness.
Now, I continue that service-oriented spirit by working with Spark, delivering groceries to families. Especially during these uncertain times, it’s been a blessing to bring comfort and essentials to doorsteps. Whether it’s a short conversation or just a wave from the window, it reminds me why I do what I do.
A Life of Purpose, Wrapped in Joy
Life, to me, is a rich, colorful tapestry—woven from family, friends, furry companions, creativity, and service. Every day brings a chance to connect, to learn, to grow. Even in the busiest moments, I try to pause and appreciate the goodness around me.
I believe we all carry the potential to bring warmth and comfort into the lives of others. Whether it’s a homemade blanket, a bag of groceries, or simply being present, the way we show up in the world matters.
